How
to rig up the XFactor Miracle Worm
This is an excellent
way to rig up the Miracle Worm. With this setup you can drift fish
for Steelhead, Salmon (yes...salmon like these to) and trout.
Prefer to float fish instead? When float fishing for steelhead (or
float fishing for Trout), just add 5 bb split shot to the leader
and an 1/8 oz slip float and your set (weight and float size will
need to be adjusted to match river conditions).
If
your fishing a lake, you can just add split shot to the leader or
rig it up carolina style and hit the water. In addition, you can
"plunk" with this setup in the river, lake or pond.
Whatever
you do, make sure you use a needle and NOT a worm threader. Worm
threader's are way to big and will wear your plastic baits out
very fast, if not immediately. Using a needle allows you to make a
hole in the bait that is just barely big enough for the line to go
through.
Things you
need:
XFactor
Miracle Worm
#8 or #6
hook (worm will float these hooks on it's own)
Mono
line (any size and length you normally use)
1
regular threading needle, around 2" long
Step 1:
Tie a knot. Egg loop
knots work the best, mainly because the knot is on the
shank of the hook and won't interfere with the worm.
Regular knots can cause a larger hole in the worm which
will shorten the life of your plastic bait.
Step 2:
Poke your needle into
the worm, approx 1" up from the bottom of the tail.
Step 3:
Slowly, and carefully
work the needle all the way up the center of the worm.
Take your time and make sure the needle doesn't poke out
the side along the way.
Step 4:
Insert the very end of
your leader into the needle. All it takes is 1/2"
or so of line, so that you can pull the line all the way
through the worm.
Step 4:
Poke the needle
throught the very center of the worm, then pull your
line through. As soon as the needle is all the way out
(like the picture), you can set the needle to the side.
Step 5:
Hold the worm in one
hand, and the line in the other, then pull the line all
the way through the worm until you reach the hook.
Ready
for action!
When
finished, the hook should be right up against the worm,
as shown.
