Catch More Kokanee

One of my favorite times of the year has arrived, Kokanee time! These feisty, plentiful land locked salmon are on the bite and ready for catching. I just got done fishing a local Kokanee derby this past weekend where we caught 30 fish before 10am. What a blast! These fish are great fighters for their size and provide lots of action. I am a big fan of the Dick Nite dodgers for kokanee and when you pair them up with Xfactor tackle you will be putting more fish in the boat. One bait in particular is the miracle worm. Kokanee love Xfactor miracle worms! I found a couple great ways to rig miracle worms that will help put more kokanee in the boat.

#1 Small pieces tipped on a custom wedding ring spinner

Specifications:

Leader length: 14-20”

Hooks: Size 4 Gami octopus

Body: Mack’s UV green stack bead

Blade: Brass #3

Bait: Xfactor miracle worm pieces

Dodger: Dick Nite Pink splatter back

#2 Miracle worm threaded under a mini hoochie skirt

Specifications:

Leader length: 8-10”

Hooks: Size 4 red Gami Octopus

Body: 1.5” Mini squid skirt

Bait: Xfactor miracle worm

Dodger: Dick Nite UV Glow clown

#3 wedding ring and miracle worm comb

Specifications:

Leader length: 14-20”

Hooks: Size 2 Matzuo Sickle

Body: Mack’s UV Chartreuse and pink stack beads

Blade: Pink #2

Bait: Xfactor miracle worm threaded on the hook

Dodger: Dick Nite Purple Hot tip

#4 Double Wacky Miracle rig

This is an Xfactor exclusive! A new rig that Jeff (Owner of Xfactor) shared with me and now I want to share it with all of you. Rigging the worm’s wacky style will bring out a new bait action that will drive kokanee wild! I can’t wait to do more testing with this one.

Specifications:

Leader length: 8-10”

Hooks: Size 4 red Gami Octopus

Body: Double wacky rigged Miracle worms

Blade: none

Bait: Xfactor miracle worm

Dodger: UV Dodger

These different rigs are just a few examples of the versatility that the Xfactor baits can bring to the table. Kokanee fishing provides an opportunity to experiment and find what rigs work best for you. If you haven’t fished for kokanee, now is the perfect time to get out and try some Xfactor tackle for these tasty salmon. Thanks for reading and God Bless!
