Analysis paralysis or paralysis by analysis

is the state of over-analyzing (or over-thinking) a situation so that a decision or action is never taken, in effect paralyzing the outcome.

Because of an endless array of choices, coupled with a relentless onslaught of advertising, fishermen often end up buying more baits and lures than they know what to do with.

When the bite is tough and we have a 10 lb box full of gear, we can be overwhelmed to a point of analysis paralysis.

As summer winds down and the calendar turns to September, my mind wonders back to an epic fall day on the Oregon coast.

Cool, crisp air, leaves changing colors, the sound of the river that seems to have come to life with the recent rain, after
being a warm trickle just weeks earlier. Water temps have dropped and the fish are active.

Before I can even grab my gear and head down to the river I already hear fish rolling. Man I love the fall!
