We put the boat in at 8am, typical for chasing smallies in the summer time. We were going to be fishing on the famous "Loop" of the Umpqua River, going from private boat ramp to private boat ramp. Analysis paralysis or paralysis by analysis

is the state of over-analyzing (or over-thinking) a situation so that a decision or action is never taken, in effect paralyzing the outcome.

Because of an endless array of choices, coupled with a relentless onslaught of advertising, fishermen often end up buying more baits and lures than they know what to do with.

When the bite is tough and we have a 10 lb box full of gear, we can be overwhelmed to a point of analysis paralysis.
